Il Consumo di Suolo in Italia is a national monitoring platform developed by Italy’s National System for Environmental Protection (SNPA) to track and assess land take and soil consumption across the country. The portal provides annual monitoring data, indicators, maps, downloadable datasets, and reports documenting the conversion of natural and agricultural land into artificial surfaces. It also includes national, regional, and municipal-scale indicators, enabling users to examine spatial patterns and trends in soil consumption over time.
Within the italian context, the instrument is suitable for regional integration of land-consumption monitoring, soil sealing, ecosystem services, and spatial planning processes. It provides a comprehensive spatial evidence base for sustainable land-use and territorial planning covering all spatial planning phases and levels.
